 Reviews UKRAINIAN RITUALISTIC SONGS PERFORMED WITH GREAT BEAUTY Like many European countries that are agricultural, Ukraine marks the seasons and social occasions with festivals of songs and dances. Here the songs are performed by Kochan with great sincerity and beauty. Polson’s arrangements are admirable and reflect the mood of the songs. The interludes are full of charm and the record contains much that is memorable. Many of these songs are in the minor mode, so the prevailing mood is serious. But to an agricultural society, life is serious. This is a desirable disc. Ronald Gibson
